Howdy friends. My amigo Dan asked if I would be interested in setting up a little corner on the site here. I can’t recall having ever passed up an opportunity to talk about myself, so here goes. In no particular order, I’m a dad, husband, lawyer, flattop guitar player, reformed English major, fly fisherman and fly tyer, kayaker, bow hunter, fifth-generation Texan, occassional runner, lefty Democrat, and wannabe writer. I’m 37 years old and living in my hometown of Houston, Texas, with my wife, daughters, and a mostly-toothless border collie named Dingo. About 18 months ago, I walked into an AA meeting here in Houston for the first time, and I’ve been more out of the program than in since then, though I keep coming back. As of today, December 05, 2005, I’ve got sixteen days of sobriety to my credit, which is the most I've had in a long while. I don’t claim victory over it, and probably more importantly from the AA folks’ perspective, I don’t know as I’ve surrendered yet either. So I guess this area will be about any and all of the above topics. I’ll probably also infringe on a few copyrights by posting the occasional story, poem or MP3, and maybe post some of my own writing too. Hope you’ll feel free to send me a message if any of this strikes a chord, offends, or just to let me know you’re out there. brookie@sobermusicians.com All the best, Brookie |
